Chinese Visa Application – Summary of Requirements for Indians

Passport Requirements

Original passport valid for at least 6 months with two or more blank pages.

A photocopy of the data page (and photo page if separate).

For multiple-entry visas, your passport must remain valid for the entire duration of the visa plus your stay in China.
Proof of Legal Status (If Applying Outside Your Citizenship Country)

Submit the original and photocopy of your valid residence, work, or student permit, or any official stay certificate if applying from a country other than India.
Supporting Documents
Depending on the purpose of your visit, you may need the following:

Invitation Letter: From a Chinese travel agency or an individual residing in China, including trip details, applicant info, and inviter contact.

Tour Itinerary Documents: Round-trip flight bookings, hotel reservations, etc.

Personal Cover Letter: Explaining your purpose of visit, travel dates, places to visit, and inviter details.

Employment/Financial Proof: Employer letter with income or last 6 months of bank statements (minimum INR 100,000 balance, stamped and signed).

If working or studying in India, provide a certification letter from your employer or school with contact info and applicant’s income.
Note: All documents must be accurate. False or incomplete information may lead to visa refusal. Consular officers may request additional documents, interviews, or proofs.
Visa Application Form & Photo

Submit one physical photo (33×48 mm, color, white background) with your application.
Visa Extension & Stay

You may apply for an extension of your stay at a local public security authority before your visa expires.

If already in China and you need a new visa, you must exit the country and reapply.

Visa for Children

Children must apply individually or as accompanying applicants. The procedure is the same as adults.
Application Through Agencies

You must visit the Chinese Visa Application Centre in person for fingerprint collection.

Travelers under 14 or over 70 years old are exempt from fingerprinting.
