Kyrgyzstan Cuts Visa-Free Stay to 30 Days for 55 Countries

Kyrgyzstan has updated its visa-free entry rules, tightening the length of time international visitors from 55 countries can stay without a visa. From January 1, 2026, travellers from these nations can stay in Kyrgyzstan visa-free for a maximum of 30 days within each 60-day period due to Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 855, which came into force on December 31, 2025

Why Kyrgyzstan Changed the Visa-Free Rules

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the updated rule aims to streamline migration processes, improve transparency for foreign visitors, and better align national legislation with migration policy priorities. This change replaces the previous system, where eligible visitors could stay up to 60 days within 120 days without a visa.

What the New Visa-Free Rule Means for Travellers

• Visitors from the affected 55 countries can still enter without a visa, but they must leave the country if they reach 30 days of stay within any 60-day period
• After reaching the 30-day limit, travellers must either exit Kyrgyzstan or apply for a visa, temporary permit, or residence permit to continue their journey legally.

This rolling calculation means that even with short exits and re-entries, travellers must track cumulative days spent inside the country during any 60-day window.

Who Is Affected by the New Limit

The 30-day limit applies to citizens of 55 countries across Europe, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific. Some examples include: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Singapore, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, and many others.

Exceptions and Different Rules for Other Groups

Not all visitors are subject to the same 30-day limit:
Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) nationals (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia) can still stay up to 90 days within 180 days without a visa.
• Citizens of Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, Mongolia, and similar partners also enjoy 90-day visa-free stays under separate agreements.
Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals can stay up to 180 days within 360 days without a visa.

These exceptions mean that visitors from some regions can still enjoy extended visa-free travel compared to most of the affected 55 countries.

How to Stay Longer in Kyrgyzstan

If you plan to stay beyond the new 30-day limit, it’s crucial to explore visa options before travelling. Kyrgyzstan’s e-Visa system allows visitors to apply online for stays beyond this limit for tourism, business, or personal reasons.

Travel Tips to Avoid Overstaying

Track your entry and exit dates carefully to ensure compliance with the 30-day rule.
Plan your itinerary to finish trips well within the allowed visa-free limit.

Apply for an e-Visa in advance if your planned stay is longer than the visa-free threshold.

What This Means for Tourists and Digital Nomads

For backpackers, digital nomads, and international tourists, the new rule makes it essential to plan day counts carefully and avoid unintentional overstays. Violating visa-free limits can result in fines or restrictions on future travel. (Kyrgyzstan Tourism)
